We now cant stop listening to this everyday at work, just about 4pm when we start getting a bit tired, really helps to pick us up and get us going again.
I have today finished Zorba the greek, after several months of stop start reading, it was hard going, but very enjoyable and very rewarding. My friend Malena leant me the book as a guide on what it means to be greek, and I'm not sure if it taught me about how to be greek, or more on how to live life to the full. The book is so well written that once read, you take a part of Zorba with you, and he enriches your life. I'm looking forward to next friday in the pub when I shall try to express my thoughts through a dance! I think everyone has a bit of zorba in them, its just a case of bringing it to the surface! Does any one know any other good books about Greeks
I am reading Zorba the greek, and loving it, I think I am finding out what it is to be a man. I do however have a question (as always). There is a man in the cafe drinking "sage"? what is this?
My greek friend Malena had her leaving drinks from work last night, it was very fun night, but a very sad event. I would like to thank her for all her greek help and I look forward to seeing her lots in the future. I also managed to arrange a copy of zorba the greek from her! Are there any other books I should be reading??
Hello Everyone, Sorry Ive not posted for a while, but I have not stopped in my attempts to be greek. It's just my first attempts nearly gave me early liver problems, drinking my way to greekdom is not going to work! I'm now on a health drive!
So I need to come up with some other methods of greekdom! Any ideas, any healthy ways to be greek?
It was hard night last night, watching my beloved England thrashing the hell out of Greece, my split loyalty lasted about 3 goals, after which I was happy for the win. Not sure what has happened to Greek football in the last two years, but they were seriously lacking last night, there is hope though, as I have not played a competitive game for England, if I live in Greece for 5 years I could still play for them at the tender age of 33, apparently Ian Wright was 140 when he started playing? Still hope for us all.
I've been trying to learn Greek and its not going very well. I have two audio books on my Ipod, but the Greek is just not sinking into my thick skull. Has anyone got any tips on cramming some greek in before I visit Athens?
Went to Ipswich last weekend, invented a new game. Patella cup ball is a great game, and you can play it anywhere as long as you have two chairs, three people, a ball a cup a pims jug and last but not least a patella! I would explain the rules but I'm not sure myself.
What's this all about
Having encoutered greeks and their amazing ways I have decided to become Greek.
I could just could just move to Greece claim asylum and pick up the lingo, but I want to do some research first into the things that the Greeks do that make them so great.
I cannot do this task on my own I will be enlisting the help of my friends Kostas, Malena and Mirella in this epic Journey to Greekdom.
Phil - soon to be phillipos
